I have an idea...

admin πŸ§‘β€πŸ
I have an idea: I want to automatically detect football (soccer) pitches all over the world from satellite images using computer vision.

The problem is, I know very little about computer vision.

For those of you who work withΒ  computer vision and/or satellite imagery, I would love some advice.

  1. Β Do you think this is feasible? I.e. if I gave you a 1000px by 1000px satellite image, where each pixel represents a 10m by 10m square, how easy is it to detect a football pitch?
  2. Can this be done with simple image processing (edge detection, etc.), or will it require more complex computer vision algorithms?

Would love to hear any thoughts πŸ™‚

How to incorporate your Deepnote results into Latex

admin πŸ§‘β€πŸ
I made a tutorial on syncing between Overleaf and Deepnote in order to move your data analysis results into a Latex document.

Currently, it requires a paid Overleaf account (might be free if you are student/teacher). But I can also share a free way to accomplish it, if anyone is interested.

RuntimeWarning when using SQL cells

admin πŸ§‘β€πŸ
I often get RuntimeWarnings when using SQL cells. This seems to be triggered by including timestamps in my query (see example with and without a timestamp in the selection). Does anyone know what causes this?

The query runs fine either way, but it's just a bit ugly to see these warnings so I'd love to get rid of them.

Investigating the Gender Pay Gap

Every year, Canada publishes a dataset containing the salaries of thousands of workers. I analyzed this dataset to investigate gender inequality.
